A concert featuring performances by students with visual impairments warmed the hearts of audiences at Guizhou Forerunner College on Dec 12.

The concert featured Guizhou’s first blind band, which was co-founded by Guizhou Forerunner College, which has a music department for the blind, and Shanghai Conservatory of Music.

The two schools cooperated to establish the band, with a little help from donations from musical instrument companies. The music department started to enroll students in June.

The band now has 12 members who play piano, percussion, saxophone, bass and other instruments.

“The performance is so awesome. These students have been preparing for the performance since October and have overcome many difficulties. I’m so proud of them.” said Jackie, a volunteer from the United Students and an English teacher at Forerunner College.
