People were self-snapshooting before cherry trees in Nanshan Botanical Garden

CHONGQING(CQNEWS)--With the blossoming of flowers, Spring is the best season for going out. On February 16th, the Seventh Nanshan Botanical Garden Cherry Blossom Festival started. People can appreciate 21 kinds of cherry blossoms (near 3,000 cherry trees in total) and the Garden has some unique kinds of cherry trees.

The Festival will be held from February 16th to the middle of April, lasting two months. From the 1970s, the Garden started to grow cherry trees in a large area and is the first place in Chongqing. Now the early cherry like introrsa is in full-bloom and the middle-late flowering cherry will blossom in succession.

In addition to cherry blossoms, there are camellias, including Sichuan camellia - the city flower of Chongqing. The camellia garden, from its establishment in 2004, has collected over 500 kinds of camellia, and now boasts over 50,000 camellia plants. There are more than 200 camellia trees over a century old, including several trees reaching 350 years old. Now, the camellias are blossoming and the flowering period can last until May.

Besides cherry blossom and camellias, the mangnolia, malus spectabilis, peach blossom, rhododendron, rose and winter jasmine will blossom successively. It is best season for appreciating flowers at Nanshan Botanical Garden.
