Jinma county in Chengdu's Wenjiang district held a volunteer activity on March 3 to commemorate this year's "Learn From Lei Feng Day".

Lei Feng, a young People's Liberation Army soldier, became a role model for selfless dedication because he devoted almost all of his spare time and money to helping the needy.

"The volunteer activity is aimed to improve the happiness and sense of belonging of Jinma residents," said Guo Youxun, an official from Jinma county.

Shan Kun, an official from Jinma county, awarded outstanding volunteers at the activity.

More than 200 volunteers joined the activity focusing on the environmental protection, education and salvation. A volunteer from Sri Lanka also joined the activity and helped to teach English to local students, and other volunteers also went to a local special school and played with the children there, calling for the society to strengthen its care of special children.
