Liu Yandong, vice premier of China's State Council and member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, stressed that Inner Mongolia should enhance unity among ethnic groups and uphold its systems of regional ethnic autonomy in order to make further progress.

Liu's remarks were heard during a panel discussion with delegates from Inner Mongolia on Mar 7 focusing on the government work report delivered by Premier Li Keqiang and the region’s future strategies for development.

Liu also urged to organize celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the founding of Inner Mongolia. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the region’s establishment, during which various events have been planned to showcase the prosperity of the autonomous region, specifically its ethnic diversity and economic development.
