Yang Dingxin wins the 16th China Weiqi Competition
CHONGQING(CQNEWS)--According to Chongqing Chess Institute, Yang Dingxin from Chongqing defeated Tan Xiao and won the 16th China Weiqi Competition (Southwest Division) championship.
The competition was held in Chengdu. Sixteen players attended, including 7 world champions: Ke Jie, Shi Yue, Gu Li, Dang Yifei, Mi Yuting, Tang Weixing and Chang Hao. Four players were from Chongqing: Yang Dingxin, Tan Xiao, Li Xiangyu and Gu Li. The competition adopted a rapid match system which allowed 30 seconds for each step and one minute/10 times for retention.
In the semifinal, Tan Xiao and Yang Dingxin defeated Ke Jie and Chang Hao, respectively, and reached the final.
In the final, Tan Xiao made a serious mistake during the composition at upper right corner and Yang Dingxin kept amplifying the advantages. Finally, Yang Dingxin gained the championship and bonus (RMB80,000).
Yang Dingxin was born in October 1998. He had obtained professional certificate at 10 which set a new record for the youngest player of Go playing. He was a member of the Chongqing team of Chinese Go Championship in 2010. He said that his next goal is world champion. (Translated by Li Li, Fathom Language Limited)
