China tops list of students studying Myanmar language in Yangon

YANGON, March 16 (Xinhua) -- China is topping the list of students studying Myanmar language at the University of Foreign Languages (UFL) in Yangon which attract many international students, official media reported on Thursday.

The attraction for the Myanmar language study is due to the fact that Myanmar has good business opportunities in Southeast Asia, the Global New Light of Myanmar quoted an official of the UFL as saying.

The number of overseas students, who take Myanmar language course for the current academic year at the UFL, reached about 250 with Chinese students topping the list with 112, followed by South Korean, Japanese, Thai, Indian, Vietnamese, Lao, Bangladeshi, Italian, Mexican and American.

Meanwhile, nearly 400 students are attending the Chinese language course with 440 others studying English language, over 600 for Japanese, 450 for French, 324 for German, 352 for Russian and 28 for Italian at the UFL.
