Lincoln announced Chongqing as the factory for its new SUVs
CHONGQING(CQNEWS)--Lincoln China announced the introduction of a new model SUV to China and chose Chongqing as the place of production. The Chongqing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information has said that Lincoln will cooperate with Changan Automobile to produce the SUVs at the Chongqing base. Production is expected to begin in the second half of 2019. It will be the first time for Lincoln to produce cars in China.
Lincoln formally entered China in 2014 and all the vehicles sold in China were imported with original packaging. Through two years of development, its sales volume in China rose some 180% on a year-on-year basis in 2016, making it the fastest-growing luxury automobile brand in China.
The releasing of production plant in China is a key step of Lincoln to speed up its development in China. The models produced in China will complement the products imported from North America and serve the Chinese customers together.
Last year’s sales volume of Lincoln in China was close to 33,000 units, up nearly 3 times from a year ago. By the end of 2016, Lincoln has established 65 Lincoln Centers and 7 branches in China and those numbers will separately increase to 80 and 20 by the end of 2017.
