CHONGQING(CQNEWS)--In 1991, the fairy tale Beauty and the Beast hit the big screen in the form of an animated film, becoming the first ever animated film nominated for Oscar Best Picture. More than 20 years later, the live-action film Beauty and the Beast was screened nationwide on March 17 and achieved the highest box office on that day.
Accurate interpretation of the animated film in 1991
The story of Beauty and the Beast has spread since the 18th century. In 1991, the story was displayed on the big screen as an animated film by Disney, which made a hit and was popular among a worldwide audience. Some senior fans said that the live-action film presented an accurate interpretation of the essence of the animated one and also had many fresh elements.
To turn dream scenes of the classic fairy tale into reality, special effects are definitely the highlights. The film crew made great efforts for the film effects. Over 8,700 candles were used for background layout, and Belle’s yellow dress was made of about 180-feet of feather-light organza and decorated with 2,160 Swarovski crystals. Many scenes with fantastic visual effects are sure to appeal to the romantic visions of females in the audience.
Gorgeous scenes as in musical films
Compared with previous musical animated film, the live-action film is more like a Hollywood musical film. Notably, the melodies with universal praise in the animated film Beauty and the Beast in 1991 are all retained in the live-action one. When Belle is dancing with the Beast, the classic theme song Beauty and the Beast reminds the audience of similar scenes in the animated version. (Translated by Huang Juan, Fathom Language Limited)
