1. 90-degree light rail

The unique landform of the mountain city has created the unique landscapes in the city’s urban construction.

A photo titled “Chongqing Light Rail with a turn of over 90 degrees” has made Light Rail Line 2 popular. In the photo, a 4-car light rail train on Line 2 is runs among green trees and high-rise buildings. When passing the turn of over 90 degrees, the gradient of the train body will exceed 30 degrees. With a speed of 60km per hour, it feels like riding a roller coaster.

Accurately speaking, what’s in the photo is a section between Dadukou Station and Ping’an Station of Line 2. Professionally speaking, the section has a minimum turning radius of 198m, with a relatively big difference with the minimum turning radius of 100m.

However, though this is not the sharpest turn in the rail transit of Chongqing, all the three sharpest turns are on Line 2, respectively the section between Xinshancun and Dadukou, Ping’an and Mawangchang and Linjiangmen and Jiachangkou, all with a minimum turning radius of 100m.
