Xi'an International Trade & Logistics Park has decided to provide 120 million yuan ($17.4 million) for tree-planting and landscaping projects this year, Xi’an Daily Newspaper reported.
The plan is to increase the green area of the park to 200,000 square meters.
Around 1,600 officials and employees in the park have participated in four voluntary tree-planting campaigns this month, planting a total of 1,900 trees.
Government officials and residents from nearby communities joined the volunteers in honor of Arbor Day on March 12, with 20,000 square meters of greenery added.
So far, some 12,300 trees and shrubs –– such as cedar, cherry and camphor trees ––have been planted, with a total area of 59,000 square meters.
Thanks to the efforts to improve the area’s environment, the main road of the zone was included in a list of top 10 most beautiful streets last year.
