2017-03-28 09:40:07

The world’s leading jockeys will gather together in Chengdu’s Wenjiang district as the 2017 Chengdu Dubai International Cup (CDIC) Meydan Classic is scheduled to begin on April 2.

International jockeys will compete for a total prize fund of 3.75 million yuan ($544,361) with 60 racehorses.

Five major races, including the Wenjiang Sprint (1,400 meters), Guangsha Mile (1,600 meters), Meydan Handicap (2,418 meters), Wenjiang Meydan Classic (1,600 meters) and Chengdu-Dubai International Cup (2,218 meters), are pitting five Chinese jockeys against five visiting hopefuls.

Thanks to the introduction of CDIC by Meydan Group in partnership with the Chengdu municipal government, Chengdu sports bureau, Wenjiang district government and China Guangsha Group, ties between China and the United Arab Emirates are developing quickly.

The second China-UAE Economic, Trade and Cultural Summit will also be held during the race to allow in-depth discussions on topics including city development, culture and trade exchanges among companies from China and the United Arab Emirates.
