Astrophotography Exhibition on display in Shanghai

According to Dai, the exhibition has attracted 34 photographers from nearly 20 countries. In addition, the organizer also invited an Indian photographer to the scene, who, together with Dai, shared their own plans of shooting the starry sky of the Himalayas.

Dai, who finished his postgraduate study in the College of Automotive Engineering at Chongqing University now is a professional astrophotographer who has been in the career for years. His work has appeared in NASA’s Astronomy Photos of the Day and on the cover of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS). At the end of 2016, space.com, a famous international astronomy website, selected 100 Best Space Photos of the Year, and the photo of the starry sky photographed by Dai at Siling Glacier in Lhoka Prefecture of Tibet is one of them.

The exhibition is hosted by the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai Astronomical Association and TWAN will run until July. TWAN is a program initiated by top astrophotographers all over the world whose aim is to share the photographic works of the wonderful world under the starry sky and set up a bridge between science, culture and art.
