Introduction to some bamboo shoot bases

1. Siyuanping, Heshun Town, Wulong

Heshun Town in Wulong has been long known as the “hometown of bamboo shoots”. The Siyuanping bamboo shoot base covers an area nearly 10,000mu and most bamboos there are knee-high cold bamboos. These bamboo shoots are characterized by sweet, tender and crisp, which taste very good. At the end of spring and beginning of summer every year, a large number of people visit the base to experience the fun of digging bamboo shoots. Meanwhile, Siyuanping is also the location of the first wind power station in southwest China – Siyanping Wind Power Station, so you can also enjoy the spectacular windmill scenery when digging bamboo shoots.

2. One-hundred-mile Bamboo Forest in Zhushan Town, Liangping

The Zhushan Town One-hundred-mile Bamboo Forest is located in the north of Liangping. In Zhushan Town, there are 350,000mu bamboo forests, with 37 varieties of bamboo. It is the largest alpine bamboo forest in China and is honored as “Hometown of Chinese Disporum Bamboos”. From April to May every year, Zhoushan Town holds a month long bamboo shoot digging festival and marks off special areas for citizens to dig bamboo shoots. The bamboo shoots there are good quality and characterized by fresh, fragrant, crisp and tender, which are ideal natural green food.

3. Yeping Village, Nantuo Village, Fuling

Nantuo Town is not only one of the places of origin of famous Fuling Zhacai, the bamboo shoots in its Yeping Village are also well-known. The mountain and water environment in Yeping Village create a favorable growing environment for bamboo. The area of bamboo forests in the village is about 3,000mu. There are many varieties of bamboo shoots, which is represented by dendrocalamus latiflorus.
