Now Chongqing is in the best time for observing raptorial birds migrating. At the Grand Gold Eagle Viewing Platform, in Nanshan Botanical Garden, many tourists observed several raptorial birds hovering and flying over the Grand Gold Eagle.

The first week of each April is the legal “week of bird protection” in Chongqing. From today until April 7, the Chongqing Bird Watching Society will dispatch experts to watch raptorial birds migrating at the Grand Gold Eagle Viewing Platform, and guide citizens and tourists to appreciate the birds. If you want to watch raptorial birds, you can also go to Nanquan, Jinyun Mountain, Jiandao Mountain and Gele Mountain. The raptorial bird watching will last until June, and the best time for watching is the early part of May. Except for black glede, the tourists also watched the eastern buzzard, grey-faced buzzard and others these days.

Since 2013, the Chongqing Bird Watching Society has watched the raptorial birds migrating at four main parallel mountains in the spring and autumn migratory seasons. According to statistics, in the spring and autumn of 2016, they watched about 20,000 birds in 25 kinds of raptorial birds, including that 16,855 birds in the spring and 3,129 birds in the autumn. On May 6, 2016, they watched 2,897 raptorial birds at Grand Gold Eagle Viewing Platform, which was the maximum of a single day in the last year. Up to now, according to the statics of Chongqing Bird Watching Society, Chongqing has about 466 kinds of birds, including 137 kinds in Chongqing Nanshan Botanical Garden.
