CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- With transportation getting more and more convenient and the network service platforms getting rich, how do the porters (Bangbang in localism) in Chongqing live now? Recently, Ouyang Fenqiang, who played Jia Baoyu in A Dream in Red Mansions (1987), is to finish the filming of Hi, Bangbang. As a special film for Chongqing’s 20th anniversary of becoming a directly-controlled municipality, the film features the vicissitudes of lives during the transformation period and the positive attitude of Chongqing people.

It tells the story about the elimination and transformation of porters in the internet age, likely an updated one of Porters in Chongqing. Ouyang worked with the groups from Chongqing and Sichuan. Zhao Liang, who had played the role of “Maozi” in Porters in Chongqing, is the leading actor.

Why did Ouyang make this film and how is it? During the interview, Ouyang said that his memory of Porters in Chongqing was still fresh. “I had made two films in Chongqing and I have been hoping to make a film showing its transformation. In Hi, Bangbang, the audience can learn the porters’ struggle and thought. For example, they are embarrassed to go back to the villages after struggling so many years in city and they find it hard to find work via internet”.

To make a better film, they invited four real porters. The actors learned from their experiences. Ouyang said that the documentary The Last Porters had impressed him a lot. The porters had a hard life.
