Yuanyang, Yubei District
It is a natural bridge, formed as a result of the stretching of two trunks of a tall tree to the opposite bank, in the shape of a flying mandarin duck over the brook near the former residence of the Yuanyang Township Government. It is named Yuanyang (literally, the mandarin duck).
Jiulongpo
According to the Annals of Baxian County, Relics of Jiulongtan was engraved on a rock of Wangping Mountain. Jiulongtan (Shoal of Nine Loons) was thus named because of the nine loon-shaped rocks on the shoal in the middle of the river. Afterwards, people opened stores there and therefore it was named Jiulongpu. However, some people said Jiulongpo was named because of its clinoform on the north bank of the Yangtze River; while other others think it was a misread of Jiulongpu by a reporter of Xinhua Daily during Chongqing Negotiation, and then Jiulongpo has gradually spread all over.
