CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- “Here I am!” On the afternoon of May 7, Liu Xiao Ling Tong who acted as the monkey king Sun Wukong of Journey to the West came to MixC Sisyphe Bookstore to autograph his new book (《行者》). Before the session, he disclosed in the interview that the Sino-US 3D Journey to the West would have three parts. Asked if he will be surpassed by others, he gave his response liberally.

He said that he has been writing the scripts since 2015, and will make two versions: the domestic one and an overseas one. The former would be for the domestic audiences and the latter would be changed in structure, however, both of them would not be made as the same as the TV play in order.

With respect to the TV play Journey to the West, the visual effects were not developed at that time, so the audiences paid more attention to the performance made of the actors and thought highly of them.

In film, the most important part will be high technology. So, will that have an impact on actors’ performances? He said it would make the film better, “for example, if I want to change the golden cudgel into 10,000 ones, the high technology will make it look good”.

“Performance is more important than high technology.” He said.

It is reported that the English version will have three parts, Liu Xiao Ling Tong will act as Sun Wukong and be the artistic consultant. Ma Dehua will play Pigsy, but other actors are yet to be determined.

In recent years, many actors have played the role of Sun Wukong, such as Donnie Yen, Aaron Kwok, Huang Bo and Eddie Peng. Will Liu Xiao Ling Tong be surpassed? What does he think of it?

He said: “Is there anyone spending 17 years on playing one role?” He thought that the actors who want to play the role of Sun Wukong well shall learn about the monkey show of traditional Chinese drama firstly, and then have the specialized training.
