2017-05-15 10:32:05

A direct flight service between Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, and Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia, was launched on May 22.

Three weekly 9.5-hour flights will be available to charter passengers each way between Chengdu and Ethiopia. As planned, over 100 international flight services expected to be available from Chengdu this year.

A Boeing 787-800 aircraft will carry passengers from Chengdu to Addis Ababa every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Return flights to Chengdu will be available every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The routes are expected to bring a welcomed convenience to travelers between the two cities.

This new route between Chengdu and Ethiopia is the second nonstop flight service that connects Chengdu and African, after the operational launch of the Chengdu-Mauritius route.

Known as a gateway city in Africa, Addis Ababa is the home of the African Union (AU), a continental union consisting of all 55 countries on the African continent.
