CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- As the Belt and Road initiative ushers in a new era of development, there are increasing business opportunities in Jiangbei district—in the north of both Yangtze and Jialing Rivers. On the afternoon of May 18, the First Portuguese Carnival of Investment Promotion Conference, jointly organized by the Jiangbei district committee of the CPC Chongqing Municipality and the government of Jiangbei district, was held. Principals of more than 30 Portuguese enterprises, such as those from Portugal, Brazil, and Angola, etc., came and investigated the investment environment of Jiangbei district. They not only introduced the investment projects related to the Belt and Road initiative back in their home countries, but also promoted their outstanding sceneries, delicacies, and arts.

On May 18, the Portuguese Carnival Of Investment Promotion Conference was held in Jiangbei district, Chongqing Municipality.

A series of activities around the Portuguese carnival are answering the call of communication and mutual benefit promoted by the Belt and Road initiative.

The Portuguese enterprises present at this activity come from a wide range of industries, such as culture, tourism, trade, finance, technology, football, and logistics. This activity consists of several parts: a promotional conference, roundtable discussion, field trip, and theme cultural activities.

It is not possible to have a deep understanding of the unique charm of Portuguese countries without appreciating the beauty in their delicacies and sceneries. The government of Portugal has long been committed to the development of tourism, and to achieve this goal they skillfully employ their culture as the medium to make more foreigners feel interested in its natural beauty. In terms of its delicacies, besides its fame of being “one the healthiest diet countries”, its foods such as coffee, wine, and beer have been tremendously popular among Chinese customers.

Another shining point in this delegation is Figo Academy in the circle of football. It is an international electronic platform, established by Louis Figo, the famous football star and winner of the Golden Ball Award. It serves to provide equal opportunities for teenage football talents around the world to learn from and communicate with each other. It makes sense then, that its introduction will do good for the teenage football development and the national fitness activities in Jiangbei district.

According to the carnival’s organizers, one Portuguese theme activity will be held in the Guanyinqiao business area on a daily basis from May 19-21. These activities are about Portugal’s culture and delicacies as well as related interactions. Citizens can have a taste of some exotic delicacies here, including the superb mixed wine, home-made traditional olive oil, the best canned sardines, organic dried fruits, Portugal butter cookies, Portugal mixed cheese, and Brazil organic oatmeal without milk.
