CHONGQING (CQNEWS) – A new train of Line 2 has opened, and is the first train in operation after the overhaul of Line 2 last year. According to the Chongqing Public Resources Trading Center, nine trains (six carriages for one group) will be added to Line 2.
The new train is not only fresher and with a more modern appearance, but also has — for the first time — video screens offering station announcements. After its operation, the crowded situation in the peak hours of Line 2 will be alleviated.
Crowding has been alleviated and time is saved.
When Line 2 trains' entered the overhaul period, there were fewer available trains. Many citizens complained about several problems, including crowded in peak hours, the long time interval, etc.
To alleviate the difficulty of taking the train, the Chongqing Rail Transit sped up purchasing new trains and carried out debugging. Since the beginning of July, many passengers found new trains of Line 2 new car had been launched.
Ms Luo, who commutes by Line 2 every day, said that it's not as crowded during rush hours as past, so the newly-operated train has alleviated the rush pressure of Line 2.
The train of four carriages can hold 882, while the train with of six carriages can hold 1342, 460 passengers more than before.
Paint coating is more refreshing and beautiful.
There are several new highlights in the new train compared to the previous ones. For example, although the new coating remains the fresh style of traditional Line 2, mainly relying on white, green and blue, the precious black line below the train was removed. Now it looks more fashionable and fresher.
The settings of the new inner carriage are basically the same as the older train models, while more attention has been paid to the design details. The screen offering station announcements was established above every joint between carriages, which was the first for Line 2. This kind of device had only been available for 8-group-carriage of Line 3. The screen will display station announcements in both Chinese and English, calling passengers' attention to prepare for getting off. (Translated by Shi Yali, Fathom Language Limited)
