CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- In the women's single final of the chess match for masses, the 13th National Games, Chongqing player Tan Zhongyi obtained the first gold medal in the current session for Chongqing delegates with a score of 5 wins and 4 draws. On July 10th, as soon as Tan Zhongyi returned home with gold medal and glory, she shared her game experience with the folks who mattered to her.
In March of this year, Tan Zhongyi won the 2017 Women's World Chess Championship on behalf of China and became the first Chongqing chess player for this honor. Tan Zhongyi said that from a very early age, she began to participate in various scales of matches both home and abroad except for the National Games. There chanced to be a chess match in the National Games after 30 years, so Tan Zhongyi entered her name for the competition without hesitation.
"For this game, I attended a bullet mixed team competition and blitz women's individual competition. For the first match, my goal was to keep top 6 and strive for top 3, while I focused on the women's individual event, striving for the gold medal," stated Tan Zhongyi.
Because she participated in two matches at the same time and adjusted to jet lag after coming back from the World Cup team event in Russia, Tan Zhongyi did not perform well at the first stage. So the first two matches were draws, she recalled, under the condition of not having a big point gap, and she adjusted herself and led off an attack, winning at last.
For the National Games, she said, it is the ordinary mind that helped her win the match. She will keep this kind of mind in later times. (Translated by Shi Yali, Fathom Language Limited)
