CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- In order to improve the operational services, the Chongqing Rail Transit Group added six train sets for Line 2 beginning August 9. Operations have been adjusted to provide a direct train from Jiaochangkou to Yudong rather than transfer at Tiantangbao Station.
The Line 2 starts from Jiaochangkou Station and ends at Yudong Station with an overall length of 31.36km and 25 stations. To correspond with the increasing passenger flow of Line 2, Chongqing Rail Transit Group has purchased another 9 monorail trains with six-group-carriages. Now, there are 49 trains for Line 2 in all, including 22 six-group-carriage trains and 27 four-group-carriage trains.
According to the debugging situation, from August 9, Line 2 would add three six-group-carriage trains for both weekdays and weekends. The trains for weekdays would be increased from 32 to 35, and the trains for weekends will be increased from 24 to 27.
At the same time, operation models of Line 2 will be adjusted. The operating interval between Jiaochangkou, Tiantangbao and the zoo, as well as stops between Tiantangbao and Yudong separately will be adjusted to one line from Jiaochangkou to Yudong and to Tiantangbao. The operation interval will be opened in proportion to reduce the running interval between the zoo and Tiantangbao. This also means that passengers are able to take the direct Line 2 from Jiaochangkou to Yudong rather than having to transfer at Tiantangbao Station. It will also relieve the traffic pressure at peak hours from the zoo to Tiantangbao and improve the transportation capability. (Translated by Shi Yali, Fathom Language Limited)
