The caring people of Wenjiang district came out in force on Aug 11, to make charitable donations for those less well-off living in Seda county of Sichuan's Ganzi Tibetan autonomous prefecture.

Seda, which means "golden horse" in Tibetan, lies in the southeast of the Tibetan Plateau, and has long had to deal with poverty due to environmental factors such as a high altitude and extremes in temperature.

Sponsored by the united front work department of Wenjiang district, a total of three democratic party organizations, 93 enterprises and 206 caring people offered donations of money and materials which worth 3.24 million yuan ($485,800).

All the donations will be used to help Seda county improve its education, health care and infrastructure facilities.

As early as 2012, Wenjiang district started to provide aid to Seda, with donations adding up to 80 million yuan in the following five years, helping the county improve its livelihood and infrastructure. Wenjiang expects to raise 85.2 million yuan for Seda in the next five years.
