If each district or county in Chongqing is represented by a special plant, what are they respectively? Recently, the Map of Special Plants in Chongqing was jointly released by the Chongqing Urban Planning Bureau and the Chongqing Geographic Information Center. Let’s feel the charm of the various districts and counties through plants of different varieties and shapes to learn about a different side of Chongqing.

Chongqing is located in the transitional zone from the east Sichuan basin to mountainous regions around. The complex and varied topography and relatively peaceful ecological environment provide favorable conditions for plant growth and breeding, making Chongqing a veritable “plant treasury” of China.

According to the Map of Special Plants in Chongqing, each district or county in Chongqing has its own representative plant, such as the ficus virens in main urban areas (including Beibei — the Beibei winter sweet), while in surrounding districts and counties, there are Adiantum reniforme var. sinense in Wanzhou, costusroot in Kaizhou, kiwi fruit in Qianjiang, Sichuan pepper in Jiangjin, Shouzhu bamboo in Liangping, etc. All these plants are familiar to Chongqing people. Now they are identified on a map, presenting a new appearance.
