The 44m height difference of a spiral interchange makes Hongyun Road an “online star”

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The most complicated Huangjuewan Interchange in Chongqing, the first spiral tunnel in Yuzhong District, Chongqing, and the “waved” road in Banan District…

In the 3D magic city, Chongqing, more and more traffic constructions become the “online stars”. After rising to fame by the spiral tunnel, another spiral tunnel will be built in Hualongqiao again.

Yuzhong District is conducting design research on Hongyun Road, which connects the residential quarters of Gaojiu Road and Jiabin Road. The completion of Hongyun Road will bring convenience to the people living in the residential quarters area.

According to the design plan released on the website of the Chongqing Architectural Design Institute, Hongyun Road will be a road with strong Chongqing-style. In addition to a coaxial spiral interchange, there will be a downgrade featured by “steep gradient + gentle gradient + steep gradient + gentle gradient”.

It is said that the Hongyunlu Spiral Interchange will be located on the right of entrance of Hongyancun Tunnel, enjoying a length of 610m. It is a concentric spiral structure of which the plane positions of upper and lower bridges are overlapped. Height difference of this spiral interchange reaches up to 44m.

To construct pedestrian system downhill to Jiabin Road

Chongqing Architectural Design Institute reported that the engineers used all kinds of technologies to make this interchange look like a natural part of the mountain, showing the beauty of architectures in Chongqing. It will be a landmark of strong Chongqing-style. After its completion, people will feel the charm of this road.

Considering of the convenience for pedestrian traffic, a 3m wide pedestrian stairway will be built on the south of the interchange for convenience. Meanwhile, a sidewalk of the same width will be built on the right of the overpass bridge to connect with the pedestrian stairway. Sidewalks 3m wide will be built on both sides of other sections of Hongyun Road. A crossing will also be built on the road for the convenience of pedestrians.
