“Centenarian” giant panda’s birthday confession: I don’t like to be old, nor losing weight

2017-09-19 09:47:18

Equivalent to a centenarian human being

Kids and their parents are celebrating the 35th birthday of panda “Xinxing” at the zoo.

I am 35 years old, equivalent to a human being 110 years old. Last year, I was the second eldest giant panda in captivity, because the eldest one is Basi, the prototype of Beijing Asian Games Mascot “Panpan”. But she died of illness several days ago, so I have become the oldest giant panda in captivity now. In other words, I become the “oldest” one. Who wants that title? Anyhow, I don’t like it. I hope I am always 18 years old.

“Lose weight” at such an old age

Kids are painting on a 10-meter picture scroll.

Many people have said that they admired our pandas’ life. You said we don’t have any worries? I can only answer that you have never been a panda. At least, you have never been an old panda.

What’s my worry? They want to control my weight for fear I lose my health, so they only feed me 70% to 80% full. They also control my intake of protein and fat. At such an old age, I still can’t eat my fill. Well, I know it’s good for me and I will try to cooperate with them. (Translated by Huang Juan, Fathom Language Limited)
