CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- There is a new place for citizens to read books at Three Gorges Square. On September 19, the Three Gorges Square City Library, a 24-hour self-service library jointly built by the Shapingba District Culture Commission and Shapingba District Library, was officially open to the public.

The library is located on the first floor of the Shapingba District Cultural Center, with an area of 150m2. There is a collection of 8,000 books, as well as forty seats for reading. “It is a self-service library and its most important feature is without an attendant, so readers will complete the whole process of book selecting, borrowing and returning by themselves. Citizens can enter the Library with the second-generation ID Card or reader’s card of Shapingba District Library,” a Shapingba District Library worker explained.

The reporter found that the Library was equipped with a self-service book borrowing and returning machine, e-book borrowing machine, e-newspaper reading machine and other facilities. “The City Library and Shapingba District Library have realized unified borrowing and returning. Citizens can borrow books with the readers’ cards of Shapingba District Library.
