KUNMING, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- A total of 16 suspected drug dealers were apprehended in a city of southwest China's Yunnan Province, one of the areas most affected by the drug trade in China, in the week prior to the National Day holiday, said local police on Friday.

Police also seized 69 kilograms of drugs and seven vehicles, according to the public security bureau of Zhaotong city.

Yunnan is near the opium-producing Golden Triangle, while Zhaotong is at the juncture of Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan provinces.

The biggest amount of drugs seized was 35.4 kilograms, on September 27. Police spent more than 40 hours pursuing two suspects and found heroine hidden in the chassis of their car.
