Over 34 million tourists visited Chongqing during the “super holiday”

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The long holiday in 2017 (National Day and Mid-autumn Festival) has come to an end. With the supply-side structural reform driven by the concept of “tourism in the whole area”, Chongqing attracted over 34 million tourists in the past 8 days (a year-on-year growth of 21.12%) and achieved a total tourist income of over twelve billion yuan (a year-on-year growth of 34.68%).

Urban tourism becomes the hottest topic.

In spite of the sunny and rainy weather during the holiday in Chongqing, the tourists still show their great passion for travelling. With the help of integrated tourism resources, abundant tourism supply and significant adsorption capacity, urban tourism has become the hottest topic in the market.

According to the data, during the holiday, 2.459 million tourists visited Nan’an District (a year-on-year growth of 18.9%), 1.058 million tourists visited Jiangbei District (a year-on-year growth of 12.5%), 8.769 million tourists visited Yuzhong District (a year-on-year growth of 16.9%) and 2.4445 million tourists visited Jiulongpo District (a year-on-year growth of 6.88%).

More tourists came to Three Gorgeous and world heritage sites.

During the holiday, the average tourist load factor of Three Gorges cruises was up to 87%, and 1.7029 million tourists visited the “Golden Tourism Area” of the Three Gorges (a year-on-year growth of 27.31%). In addition, over 500,000 tourists visited hot springs in Chongqing including South Hot Spring (177,400), East Hot Spring (240,400) and Ronghui Hot Spring (17,400) (a year-on-year growth of 11.03%, 9.75% and 35.94% respectively), while 125,100 tourists visited Dazu Rock Carvings (a year-on-year growth of 37.54%) and 413,800 tourists visited Wulong Karst Tourist Area (a year-on-year growth of 12.15%).

European and American tourists became the mainstay for inbound tourism.

During the holiday, 16,985 tour groups (758,200 tourists) were formed or met by the travel agencies in Chongqing, while the number of inbound tourists increased significantly by 15.8%. Tourists from other countries account for 77.41% of all inbound tourists to Chongqing.

While America, England, Germany, South Korea, Singapore and France were the main tourist sources, American tourists rank the top (16.68%) among all inbound tourists to Chongqing. (Translated by Sun Jiuyang, Fathom Language Limited)
