Shows in the 6th Chongqing Performance Season

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- From the middle of October to next January, 27 programs, such as the Kun opera “The Peony Pavilion”, Yue opera “Butterfly Lovers”, dance dramas “Black and White” and “Arirang” and a ballet performance of “Swan Lake” will be part of the 6th Chongqing Performance Season.

Twenty-seven domestic and overseas plays

The Chongqing Performance Season was first held in 2008 and will begin its sixth season this year. Since the introduction of distinctive stage works in Chongqing, the people’s artistic taste has gradually become more sophisticated.

The many programs this year cover fields of opera, ballet, musical, stage play, child play and magic, ranging from traditional Chinese opera to the musical dance “The Bodyguard”.

Contributing their unique cultures and talents, the Czech National Theatre Ballet, Italy Naples Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the French Little Singers of Saint Marc and other famous overseas performance groups will put on performances in Chongqing.

Wonderful local original plays

In addition to entertainment from other countries, the local professional art troupes will put on wonderful original performances. For example, the opening performance “The Landscape of Chongqing” integrates features of Chongqing folk song, Chuangong haozi (labor songs), Sichuan opera and Quyi and took a year to create.

Opening performance: large national orchestra concert “The Landscape of Chongqing” at 19:30 on October 31st at the Guo Tai Arts Centre;

Czech International Ballet “Black and White” at 19:30 on October 29th at the Guo Tai Arts Centre;

Original musical drama “The Bodyguard” at 19:30 on October 26th at Chongqing Grand Theatre;

Concert “The Chorus” of French Little Singers of Saint Marc at 19:30 of October 29th in Chongqing Grand Cultural Palace Theater;
