Hohhot maintains steady and sound economic development

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China was held on Nov 8, 2012, the major economic indicators of the capital city of Inner Mongolia has increased in a stable manner.

The total gross regional production of the whole city has increased by 9 percent compared to 2012. Meanwhile, the industrial-added value and the fixed assets investment volume have increased by 11.6 percent and 10.7 percent respectively.

Hohhot has topped the list of the capital cities of China’s five autonomous regions for ethnic minorities in terms of economic development.

In the first half of this year, the city attained a gross regional production of 137.4 billion yuan ($20.9 billion), up by 7.3 percent compared to the same period last year. The increase is 0.7 percentage points above the average gross regional production increase in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

Moreover, the growth of the tertiary industry has increased by 8.2 percent, accounting for 77.8 percent of the whole economic growth.

The growth for the special industries has been maintained above 10 percent, including organic food processing, electrical energy, biological medicine and electronic information.
