CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Transportation construction plays an important role in our traveling and living. Bridges, tunnels, rail traffic, comprehensive hub, interchanges and expressways are a big part of our daily lives. Chongqing pays attention to key engineering construction and builds a new urban transportation layout. Recently, more transportation improvements have been made. Let’s have a look at some of them.

Bridge construction

Cuntan Yangtze River Bridge

The main part of the Cuntan Yangtze River Bridge is almost finished, and the pylon, large Chinese knot, stay cables and other featuress are painted red. It is 1.6 kilometers long, and its main part is a two-tower single-span suspension bridge with a span diameter of 880m. The two towers are very eye-catching and made in the form of a memorial archway. The south main tower’s pylon is 194.5 meters high, and the north one is 199.5 meters high, which are equal to 60 floors. It is the highest memorial archway in China. By the end of 2017 when the bridge is opened, it will take only about 15 minutes to go from Nannan District to Jiangbei Airport.

Gaojia Huayuan Double-line Bridge

Gaojia Huayuan Double-line Bridge’s main work has been completed, and the finishing touches are nearing the end. It is planned to open by the end of the year. It will be a double-direction 11-lane bridge cross the river together with the old bridge. It is 982 meters long, single-direction 5-lane and the planned speed limit is 80 kilometers per hour. It will connect to Shabin Road and Shazheng Street, effectively easing the traffic pressure of the Yanggongqiao Interchange and Ciqikou.
