CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Line 2 was the first light rail in operation in Chongqing. After over ten years of operation, the contact network has to be overhauled due to aging. The whole maintenance project is expected to be completed in three years. At present, the new node of the last period has been launched and is scheduled to be finished next June.

Chongqing light rail line two is the first urban rail transit line in western China, also the first straddle type monorail line in China. It is not only one transportation vehicle for citizens, but also a "sightseeing route". In particular, the train has become an online “celebrity” because the train passes through the Liziba Station.

The overhaul of the contact network of line 2 started in 2015 and is being carried out in stages. According to the schedule, 822 anchoring sections will be upgraded within three years.

Contact networks, also known as contact wire, are hung on both sides of the track beam and set up along the pathway. This is responsible for transporting energy to the car, playing the role of "main artery" of rail transit.

Line 2 opens at 6:30 and closes at 22:30. In order to ensure the normal operation of line two, the workers are only able to enter the construction site after closing time. Apart from the preparatory work, the actual construction time is only 2.5 hours. After that, they will dismantle the ground connection, restore the power supply and withdraw the orders so as to avoid the delay of the public travel and work in early morning.
