CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- In addition to Gaoxia Ping Lake and the mountains of red leaves, there is one international tournament that could represent the Three Gorges. The Yangtze River Three Gorges (Wushan) International Cross Country Race will be held on December 3rd in Wushan, Chongqing. Recently, the application work officially started and invited thousands of athletes to compete in the adventurous match.

The Yangtze River Three Gorges International Cross Country Race was held for the first time in 2016. Owning to the unique Three Gorges, Wuxia Gorge sceneries and the perfect race experience, the match was praised as cross-country race feast by racing enthusiasts both in China and abroad.

This year, the race will begin at 9 o'clock on December 3rd in Wushan. There is a much larger scale in the race compared to last year. The number of runners will be expanded from 800 in 2016 to 1,000 this year. The race will feature three levels of participation: 50 km cross-country event for both male and female, for 200 people, 488 yuan per person; a 12 km racing event for both men and women, for 300 runners, 98 yuan per person; and a 3 km fitness event for both men and women, for 500 entrants, at no charge. Once the number of runners reaches the limitation, registration will be closed.

According to the competition rules, all applicants are required a certain sports basis and an age range from 18 to 60 years old. The ones who apply for the 50 km group are required to submit a certificate of physical examination from a general hospital of Level II within one year and the race accomplishment certificate of more than 50 km within two years, or the certificate of completion within five hours of a marathon.

In addition to the expansion of the event scale, the track has also been upgraded. The actual distance of the cross-country race is 51 kilometers. Athletes will need to climb a total 3,170 meters and descend a total 3,174 meters. Athletes need to go through the jungle or wild grass ground. Precipitous rock faces and sheer cliffs are everywhere.
