CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- In the field of contemporary arts, “southwest” is not merely a place noun. In the last forty years, active art creation relating to the “southwest” occupies half of Chinese contemporary art. Meanwhile, it also brings Chinese contemporary art to the international stage. According to the Long Museum, Journey to the Southwest – The Exhibition of Chinese Southeastern Contemporary Art from the Long Museum Collection will be held from November 1, 2017 to March 4, 2018, opened to the public for free.

“Trauma art” and “local painting”, “new figuration” and “life stream”, “new trauma” “cruel youth series” and “cartoon generation”… Many representative artists and works of contemporary art have emerged in southwest China. At the exhibition, 75 works from 49 artists will be exhibited, including masterpieces like Luo Zhongli’s Spring Silkworms, Zhang Xiaogang’s Bloodline Big Family Series, He Duoling’s Crow is Beautiful and Pang Maokun’s Girl. Some of the participating artists are born in southwest, some once studied in southwest or made sojourns to southwest for a certain period. Their common point is their inseparable connection with the southwest. The exhibition is divided into three topics by sorting the development course of southeastern contemporary art in chronological order.
