Former residences of celebrities in Chongqing

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- When Chongqing was the second capital during the Anti-Japanese War period, many celebrities stayed in Chongqing for a time. Do you know of their former residences? Have you ever been there?

Former Residence of Soong Ching-ling 宋庆龄故居

Soong Ching-ling, born in Shanghai in 1893, followed Sun Yat-sen in her youth and devoted her life to the revolutionary cause. During her 75 years’ revolutionary career, she was indomitable and heroic and stood firmly with the Chinese people. Soong was a world-famous woman in the 20th century.

Her former residence, covering an area of 898m2, with a floorage of 665m2, located at 5 Xincun, Lianglukou, Yuzhong District, is a significant heritage site from the Anti-Japanese War in Chongqing.

Former Residence of Guo Moruo 郭沫若旧居

This former residence, covering an area of 10,190m2, with a floorage of 1,566m2, is a quadrangle dwelling in late Qing Dynasty style with Chuan-dou type structure, Chinese-style tile roofing and pitched roof.

In September 2000, the residence was listed by the Chongqing Municipal Government in the first group of culture relic protection sites. The repair of the residence was started in March 2005 and the main work was completed on June 30. It was opened to the public on September 7th.
