APEC ministerial meeting reaffirms commitment to sustainable, inclusive growth

DA NANG, Vietnam, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- APEC Ministerial Meeting has approved documents to be submitted to APEC leaders, including those on narrowing development gaps and advancing economic, financial and social inclusion.
The meeting stressed the importance of reforming restructure, improving productivity, assisting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and equipping workers with new skills in the digital age, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh told a press conference in the central Vietnamese port city on Thursday.
Minh, co-chair of the APEC Ministerial Meeting (AMM), said they adopted several key initiatives, including the APEC Framework on Cross-border E-commerce Facilitation, and the APEC Strategy for Sustainable and Innovative MSMEs, and those on enhancing capacity in coping with climate change and ensuring food security.
Participants of the meeting prepared for APEC entering a new development period and achieving the Bogor Goals of realizing trade and investment liberalization by 2020, and agreed to keep on discussions about a post-2020 vision.
They reaffirmed their determination to maintain Asia-Pacific cooperation in pursuit of sustainable and inclusive growth in a changing world.
Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh, another co-chair of the AMM, said the participants showed their spirit and orientations for ensuring trade and investment facilitation in the Asia-Pacific region.
As part of the APEC Economic Leaders' Week, the one-day ministerial meeting concluded late Wednesday.
