It was at night when the 104 Chongqing firemen arrived at Maoxian County. Immediately after getting out of the car, the firemen checked the equipment without even a short break. They hoped to rescue more victims in the shortest time after arriving at the disaster area.

The strong firemen also have a tender side. On February 9, soldiers from the Jiaochangkou Detachment came to visit Tang Xiaojun at her home. Feeble and sick Tang Xiaojun has a daughter with Grade II intelligence disability, who couldn’t take care of herself. In 1999, the soldiers happened to learn about Tang’s situation, and they have paid regular visits to her since then. They have also sent gifts like rice and oil on the Spring Festival and other festivals, over more than ten years.
