At “Suning E-commerce Biu,” unmanned store at Guanyinqiao, Jiangbei District, a camera at the entrance scanned the face of a costumer, showed part of her name on the screen after successful recognition, and then let her in.
CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Along with the emerging “new retail” concept, it was a purchasing party online and offline on November 11. Recently, the first unmanned store of Suning was opened to the public and attracted many citizens. This is the first store in Chongqing with automatic recognition, price confirmation and payment.
The reporter paid a visit to experience the store. Before shopping, he was informed of “face binding” – downloading the “Suning Finance” APP, finishing real-name certification, binding with his bank card, doing face recognition and then be able to shop after successful binding.
It is required to use face recognition when entering and leaving the store. The reporter aligned his face with the camera when entering as required, and then saw a screen showing the user details via camera. When the identification process was satisfactorily completed, the glass door opened.
The store mainly deals in sporting goods. After selecting a sports backpack, the reporter went to the entrance for reconfirmation with the camera. It took only over 100 seconds to show the shopping list and price on the screen. Then, it indicated the successful payment and opened the gate for the reporter to leave. The costumers purchasing nothing could leave from a special channel.
How does it know “what I have chosen to buy?”
A representative said that the articles have a RFID tag which can be automatically recognized by the system; meanwhile, the camera can recognize costumer, articles and their quantity, and then finish settlement.
Can the system recognize twins?
It was reported that dozens of twins have been tested at the store. At the scene, they finished the test by putting on different clothes and hats and even making up, and the system correctly recognized them. (Translated by Liu Hongyan, Fathom Language Limited)
