Chongqing to show up in New Year countdown at Times Square
CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- According to the Chongqing Municipal Tourism Administration, Chongqing will show up in the New Year countdown at Times Square on December 31 to render a cultural feast of “Beautiful Chongqing: City of Mountains and Rivers” to New Yorkers and the whole world. Chongqing raised interest again after topping the world’s top 10 fastest growing tourism cities according to the WTTC (World Travel & Tourism Council).

The New Year countdown at Times Square has been going on for 110 years and will attract more than one million people from around the world to welcome the New Year by countdown. At 18:00 on December 31, a huge crystal ball will rise before a background of fireworks and the grand ceremony starts. This globally focused grand occasion will be reported live by media from different countries. It is estimated that more than 200 million US citizens and over one billion people around the world will watch it.

During the countdown activity, artists from Chongqing will perform songs and dances and raise the curtain of this grand ceremony with the famous Tongliang Loong Dance. Then the performers will present the portrayl of boat trackers at work along with the traditional folk song of Chongqing, Three Gorges Work Song. Finally, the performers will arouse the attending guests to sing the song of “Legend of The Dragon”.
