CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On December 2, the second batch of China’s 20th-century Building Heritage List was released. The list detailed 100 architecture sites such as Baoyun Building in the Palace Museum, the Military Museum of the Chinese People’s Revolution and Gulangyu modern building group were included. There were also four architectural heritage projects in Chongqing, including Chongqing University’s modern building group, the former site of Central Bank, Farmers’ Bank and American Oriental Banking Corporation, the former site of Roosevelt Library and Central Library and 816 engineering site.

The 20th-century Building Heritage List was jointly released by the China Cultural Relics Academy and the Architectural Society of China, which is the collection of architectural heritages divided based on time period. This includes different types of architectural heritages built during the 20th century. In the first list released last year, seven architectural sites in Chongqing were on the list: the People’s Great Hall, Monument for the People’s Liberation, Huangshan Anti-Japanese War Site Group, National Political Council Site, Chongqing Anti-Japanese War Ordnance Industrial Site, the former mansion of Chief of Staff of Commander Department in China Theater of the Allies and the Nanquan Anti-Japanese Building Group.

Compared with the first-batch list, the second, China’s 20th-century Building Heritage List, highlights the excellent traditional architecture style and form of China. The projects in aspects of cultural education, industrial heritage, residence and building group have increased compared with those in the first list.
