CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The Traffic & Patrol Police Corps of Chongqing Municipal Public Security Bureau reported that the second bus-priority lane, the Yangjiaping-Daping bus-priority lane, will officially go into service on December 12.

According to the Bureau, based on the feedback of citizens and actual traffic situations, the traffic administration authority determined to extend the bus-priority lane from Daping to Lianglukou by optimizing and upgrading the bus lane from Yangjiaping to Daping as bus-priority lane to form a trans-district bus fast channel connecting the Jiulongpo and Yuzhong Districts.

The trans-district bus-priority lane will be 8.3 kilometers (one-way) long. The whole section is a two-way six-lane road, with 27 bus-parking areas set up along the way. This services 37 bus routes, has a transport capacity of 1,135 buses and daily traffic volume of 254,000 passengers. The lane starts from Yangjiaping ring road and ends at Lianglukou. During 7:00-9:00 and 17:00-19:00 on weekdays, the lane will be only open to buses, special task vehicles and school buses. All other vehicles are prohibited.

At present, the signs and markings of this section have been set up. The traffic lights at Yuanjianggang, Eling and Lianglukou along the way will give priority to buses by using RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) detection. Meanwhile, fixed and mobile electronic image capture devices have been set up along the road. Vehicles entering bus-priority lane by violating the regulations will be fined RMB 200 in strict accordance with provisions as stipulated in Article 37 of the Law of The People’s Republic of China on Road Traffic Safety to effectively guarantee the exclusive use of bus-priority lane during specified periods.

According to the Traffic & Patrol Police Corps of the Chongqing Municipal Public Security Bureau, after the extended bus-priority lane section from Daping to Yangjiaping is officially opened, transportation management will be strict and there is a hope that drivers will pay attention to traffic rules and keep driving in accordance with the new regulations.
