Running enthusiasts at Changshou Lake last Sunday

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- It was a happy time for running enthusiasts of Chongqing and even of China on last Sunday, because Zhongxian and Changshou respectively held the Yangtze River Three Gorges International Marathon (Zhongxian, Chongqing) and Chongqing Changshou Lake Half Marathon. Students won the championship.

Zhongxian: 22 year old undergraduate won the championship

The Yangtze River Three Gorges International Marathon is the second marathon in Chongqing following the Chongqing International Marathon, and was first held this year. As the second international marathon of Chongqing, it also attracted international runners from Ethiopia and Kenya.

Until now, black athletes have won all the marathons. Take the Chongqing Marathon for example. In 2017, the men’s champion was from Ethiopia and the second runner-up and third runner-up were both from Kenya. On the women’s side, the first, second and third place finishers were all from Kenya. In the marathon held in November in Chongqing, — the Tieshanping International Half Marathon and Chongqing International Half Marathon — the men’s and women’s champions were both from Ethiopia.

However, a new record has been made. Qiu Wangdong, a 22 year old undergraduate from Gansu, won the championship with the time of 2:21:36.

Changshou: A student of Senior Grade III won championship

At 09:00 on last Sunday, Chongqing Changshou Lake International Half Marathon was held, attracting 3,922 running enthusiasts from 19 provinces and cities of China, including 3,465 local running enthusiasts.

This event included the half marathon (21.0975km), 10-km marathon and mini marathon (4km), including 200 family groups and 150 lovers groups. Finally, Zhang Donghao from Chongqing Tsinghua High School, and Liu Lu from Chengdu Sport University won the men’s and women’s championship respectively. The men’s and women’s championships of 10-km marathon were Zhang Zhijian and Jiang Mingge respectively.

The organizing committee provided a free physical examination to help the participants evaluate their physical conditions. In addition, not only a temporary hospital was set up, but also an ambulance helicopter was on standby. (Translated by Liu Hongyan, Fathom Language Limited)
