Gentlemen among Flowers – Exhibition of Plum Blossoms, Orchids, Bamboo and Chrysanthemum Works from Ming & Qing Dynasties Collected by the Three Gorges Museum

Time: January 20th to June 15th, 2018

Place: Calligraphy and Painting Hall, 4th floor, Three Gorges Museum

In ancient China, “gentleman” was used to praise a man of noble character. Being accredited as “Gentlemen among Flowers”, plum blossoms, orchid, bamboo and chrysanthemum have always been traditional themes of Chinese paintings combining natural features of plants with noble characters of human beings.

The exhibition is divided into four parts, namely “Plum Blossoms”, “Orchid”, “Bamboo” and “Chrysanthemum”. By combining calligraphy and paintings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties with relevant cultural relics, the exhibition may help visitors to appreciate the beauty of traditional Chinese arts and the spirit of traditional Chinese culture from different aspects.

Exhibition of Print Works – “Embrace New Era: Our Good Family Traditions”

Time: December 29th, 2017 to March 4th, 2018

Place: Temporary Exhibition Hall B, Three Gorges Museum

Farmer printmaking artists from Qijiang explain and carry on good family traditions through over 160 printing works. (Translated by Sun Jiuyang, Fathom Language Limited)
