CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- At the signing ceremony of the Gugong Institute (Chongqing) on January 20, the Palace Museum and Three Gorges Museum signed a cooperation agreement. From now, Gugong Institute will organize a series of trainings and public education activities at Three Gorges Museum.

The Gugong Institute is a professional training and educational institution set up by the Palace Museum following a school model. Since its establishment in 2013, it has set up branches in Suzhou, Xi'an and Shanghai. Chongqing has a long history that binds the Palace Museum together. Especially during the war of resistance against Japan, the site of Chongqing Anderson Bank and the site of Chuankang Commercial Bank were important storage sites for the relocation of relics from the Palace Museum. The Palace Museum is thankful for Chongqing people's efforts and spirit to protect the Palace Museum relics. The special feeling between Chongqing and the Palace Museum finally contributed to the settlement of the Gugong Institute in Chongqing.

The Gugong Institute (Chongqing) is the seventh branch established by the Palace Museum in China. It is a non-profit professional training and cultural transmission center that receives guidance from the Gugong Institute.

According to a spokesperson from the Three Gorges Museum, the Gugong Institute (Chongqing) will rely on Palace Museum resources and gather the Chongqing culture power to build an exchange platform for the development and construction of the international museum. The Institute will serve as a training base for the national cultural and museum industries and projects, a communicating base for museum culture, the training base for staff and cultural relics enthusiasts. A series of professional training and related academic activities, industry training, international training and public education activities will also be organized.
