Huguang Guild: View lanterns and watch Chinese operas

Every Spring Festival, the King of Yu Temple in Huguang Guild will hold activities. This year, the most attractive activity is the Spring Lantern Show at Dongshuimen Laojie. The lanterns, reflecting the intangible cultural heritage, enlivened the scene of Dongshuimen Jianlou (Arrow Tower).

On the first two days of the Lunar New Year and the Festival of Lanterns, there will be dragon and lion dances at King of Yu Palace and Dongshuimen Laojie. From the first to the sixth day of the lunar year, there will be traditional opera performances; during the Spring Festival, there will be performances of a Youyang waving dance, Miao bamboo pole dance, national cultural heritage bench dragon dance, Yi torch dance and other shows at the Guangdong Hall of Huguang Guild. On the fifth day, there will be “Greeting the God of Wealth” at Dongshuimen Laojie.

Surrounding attractions

The areas surrounding Huguang Guild contain most of the historical and cultural relics of Chongqing. From the Dongshuimen Gate Tower to Changbin Road, along the upper Yangtze River, there is the site of the Wanglongmen cable car, the city wall from the Ming Dynasty, Renhe Gate and other treasures.

Tourists may feel dizzy when viewing the upper city on Dongshuimen Laojie. There is a tip that you can take the elevator in the building of Gangyu Plaza to Shaanxi Road, and then enter Datong Street to visit the buildings of financial institutions like Bank of Communications and Central Bank during Anti-Japanese War, which have been included in the national key heritage conservation units. Then, you can walk along Minzu Road to Hongyadong or go down Xinhua Road to visit People's Park and Yangtze River Cableway.

Three Gorges Museum: “Greeting Spring Festival with Dogs”

During the Spring Festival, the Three Gorges Museum will launch the “Spring Culture Exhibition: Greeting Spring Festival with Dogs”, showing cute cultural relics of the dog. In addition, there are two other exhibitions: “Plum blossoms, orchid, bamboo and chrysanthemum paintings”, and the “Pride of kingdom - jade ware and Liangzhu culture” jointly held with Liangzhu Museum.

Opposite the Three Gorges Museum, there is the Great Hall of the People, which is one of the major attractions for tourists. Walking along the road on the right side of the Hall to Zhaozi Lanya, you can see the Ma’anshan historical and cultural blocks. Along the Zhaozi Lanya Center Street to Shancheng No. 3 Footpath to Guanyinyan, you can experience the three-dimensional traffic of the mountain city.
