Wang Qi Art Museum: watch works of local calligrapher

During the Spring Festival, the “He Lu Art Exhibition” will be held at Wang Qi Art Museum on Zhongshan 4th Road.

He Lu is a modern crossover artist of Chongqing. Over 80 works in categories of couplet, letter, fan painting, and hand scrolls are featured. The calligraphy works cover regular script in small characters, regular script in middle characters, running script and cursive script.

Zhongshan 4th Road, where the museum is located, is praised as the most beautiful street of Chongqing. There are Teyuan (an exhibition hall of democratic parties), Guiyuan (the former residence of Zhang Zhizhong), the signing place of Double Tenth Agreement in Chongqing Negotiations, and Zhou’s Residence (at 50 Zengjiayan.) In the Jialingqiao West Village beside Zhongshan 4th Road, there is the Zhou Ziwen Residence “Yiyuan” where George Marshall, an American statesman, stayed when visiting China during the Anti-Japanese War.

Chongqing Art Museum: see new art works

During the Spring Festival, the Chongqing Art Museum will hold the Spring Greeting Art Works Exhibition, showing the art achievements of 2017, with over 180 works covering traditional Chinese paintings, oil paintings, printings, sculptures, watercolor painting and comprehensive paintings.

Chongqing Art Museum is located in Jiefangbei, which is a major city landmark. There are former sites of the National Political Council, the Business Office of Xinhua Daily and other attractions surrounding Jiefangbei.

Beside the Art Museum, there is an old western style building which is the former site of the Sino-British Liaison office during the Anti-Japanese War. About 100m away from the old building, there is the original station of tourism bus 480, which passes 12 historical attractions in Yuzhong Peninsula and is an ideal route for tourists to sightsee in Chongqing.

Essence Contemporary Art Museum: Appreciate abstract art

Located on Nanbin Road, the Essence Contemporary Art Museum will hold the exhibition of “Abstract Plus – new possibilities of abstract painting in China” which is deemed as the “highest level abstract painting exhibition in Chongqing”.

There are historical sites like Leadery Firm, Bar of the United States Embassy (Samuel Cornell Plant’s Residence), Anderson Firm, and the French Navy Barracks on Nanbin Road. Beside the Essence Contemporary Art Museum, there is the Clessence Bookstore, a new place for people to gather and read.
