CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Liangping Taierdiao, also known as Taigong Haozi (labour song), is a kind of traditional folk music that has been in Chongqings’ Liangping District for hundreds of years.

In rural areas, people need to lift stones to build houses or to pave bridges and roads. Other times, it is necessary to lift the bridal sedan chair at weddings or lift a coffin when there is a funeral. Therefore, ‘lifting goods workers’ are indispensable for a variety of needs, which bring Liangping Taierdiao.

There are many kinds of partner combinations, ranging from 2 workers to 128 workers. The average load-bearing weights are mainly 50 to 80 kilograms. Lifting workers at the beginning and the end of a load usually own high load-bearing capacity with 100 to 200 kilogram. The modes shifting of soothing, exciting or funny style of Taierdiao will make workers' pace easy and relieve fatigue.

The goods-lifting team with over 8 workers usually chant Haozi. The more workers in one team, the more momentum will be brought by chanting to heighten the workers' morale.
