Night kitchen of “magic cooks” on train

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- There is a group of people who are getting farther from home when you are getting closer to home. When you are asleep, they are busy in the night kitchen on the train. In spite of the simple equipment and shaky carriage, they stand firmly and cook delicious food for you like magicians.

Past 23 o’clock in winter night, you might have been in your warm bed, ready to fall asleep. But there are still many people on the way home. At Chongqingbei Railway Station, the K358 train from Chongqingbei to Guangzhou will take them to their hometowns.

While the train carrying sleeping passengers moves forward, Huang Zhenbao and his colleagues, Cook Group 1 of Chongqing passenger traffic section Guangzhou Fleet K358, are busy in the night kitchen preparing a warm breakfast for passengers. There are six workers in the dining carriage: one dining carriage leader and five cooks for shift work.

Put washed eggs in cold water, reduce the heat and add seasonings after boiling and stir to make eggs tasty… Huang Zhenbao is making spiced corned eggs. Speaking about cooking on trains, Huang Zhenbao (right) thinks it is a kind of “kung-fu” work: “The equipment is limited and we have to do “horse stance” while cooking.” The reporter has also experienced it. The confined space is shaky when the train is running, so it is difficult for cooks to stand firmly.
