LONDON, March 11 (Xinhua) -- A whippet named Tease was named best of show at the finale of the world famous Crufts dog show in Birmingham Sunday evening.

The winner, from Edinburgh, emerged four days after more than 21,000 dogs from more than 40 countries and regions set out on the race to find the champion dog of 2018 in what is billed as the world's great dog show.

Runner-up in the final line of seven dogs was a pointer gun dog named Chili.

The five other finalists were Bopper, a Scottish terrier from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, U.S. who won the Terrier Group, the Working Group winner, Nana, a Newfoundland from Lancashire in northern England, Roo, a border collie from County Louth in Ireland, winner of the Pastoral Group, Howard, a papillon from Dublin, Ireland who won the Toy Group, the Utility group winner, Chanel, an Akita from Prenton, near Liverpool.

More than 3,600 dogs from 49 countries and regions entered this year's Crufts, including entries from Bahrain, Kazakhstan and Peru for the first time.

Tease, whose official Kennel Club name is CH Collooney Tartan Tease-JW, is just aged two and a half.

Proud owner of the whippet, Yvette Short said: "I am so overwhelmed. The crowd made it all so special, they seemed to like the dog and I just hoped the judge would as well.

"Tease is a dream to live with, and I trust her 100 percent It was nerve wracking in the ring, but wonderful. It's all a bit surreal at the moment and I need time to digest it all."
